Description
This is a shot that I took back in early 2008, on one of our Sunday afternoon trips into the depths of southern Louisiana. It was taken on Lake Bigeaux, part of the Atchafalaya Basin, within the vicinity of the Henderson Levee, and not too far from Lafayette. We had been on a boat tour looking for shots of local wildlife, i.e. alligators, etc. Although there were a number of gators on view, it was the vast expanse of the marsh, and wetland area that really took the eye. Particularly, the hundreds of dead and decaying Cypress and oak trees that dotted the landscape. It is a quite alien looking landscape, but one that seems to be so characteristics of this part of the country. This shot was taken with a Pentax 10D, with a texture and sepia tone filter added in Photoshop, some 6 years after the image was taken.
