Description
Ive grown to become very interested in taking shots of the Forth Bridge in eastern Scotland, even though I happen to live some 5,000 miles away! This particular shot was taken on the south bank of the Firth of Forth estuary, at the idyllic Lothian coastal town of South Queensferry.
I had actually made my way down on to the rocks to get a shot of the bridge being lit up by a Scottish sunset. Although I got the images I was looking for, I suspected that this particular shot, given the strong shadows on the foreground rocks, would look good as a black and white conversion. And so it transpired. Of all of the images I took on that September 2013 evening, this is the one that I am most happy with. The hunger for good Forth Bridge shots, though, wont stop here. My semi-annual trips to Scotland will likely always include trip to the east coast to get some shots of this very photogenic landscape.
This shot was taken with a Nikon D800, and a Nikkor 17-55 mm f/2.8 lens. Seven images, shot at f/11, where combined to HDR using Photomatix software. Black and White conversion of this Forth Bridge shot was undertaken in Photoshop PS5.
