Description
Having been in Houston for two years now, I can honestly say that I am not guilty of missing out on opportunities to photograph the impressive south east Texas skyline. I have been guilty, however, of being lax in getting these images on line. This is one particular example, shot in July and posted in November!
This is an HDR image, taken with a Nikon D800 and processed in Photomatix software. I shot many images that summers evening, as I wandered around a relatively deserted downtown at about 8pm at night. I was generally looking for a good vantage point, which are quite difficult to achieve in this Oil and Gas paradise. As impressive as the Houston skyscrapers are, those that conceived this skyline certainly did not have the photographer in mind. On this particular occasion, I decided to get right in among the towers and get the shot, rather than go for a more expansive wide angled vista. I quite liked the way the pool reflected soft summer sunset colors of these two scrapers, two of the more prominent in the city. A few months I discovered that this pool has since been emptied, so I guess I was lucky yo get it when I did!
