Description
This is one of my favourite Houston skyscrapers images, for the colours of these gleaming towers as much as anything else. I took this shot in the summer of 2013 A using a full frame Nikon D800. Unfortunately I was using a non-full frame lens, which meant my crop was going to be somewhat constrained. However, I tend to think that the tight crop tends to accentuate the tightly packed nature of the nest of towers that dominate the Houston skyline.
This shot was taken just before sunset, which meant that I got the best of the remaining soft light, but enough of it to provide a nice balance between the natural color of the tower structure, the aesthetic lighting used to light the skyscrapers and the rows and rows of office lights.
Having lived and worked in Houston for a couple of years now, I do tend to wonder just what type of businesses are housed by these downtown structures. The towers tend to represent the power of Houston as an Oil and Gas center, but most of these professionals work in the outer business districts.
