Artist's Description

This image was shot on Easter Day on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, 2010.

Just prior to shooting this image, we had been enjoying an Easter Sunday lunch in the grand Arnoud�s Retaurant. As we finished off our bread pudding desert, the annual Easter parade started to roll down Bourbon Street, right passed the window our window seat in the dining room. The sight was magnificent: the annual Chris Owens parade brought a colour and flamboyance to Bourbon Street that was very fitting on these types of Spring afternoons in the city.

This shot is of a gentleman waving for beads as the Chris Owens parade rolled passed Beinville Street. I thought that this parade really typified New Orleans �in that it offered the very common juxtaposition of the opulent and risqu�. Many of New Orleans residents, dressed in their finery for Easter Sunday, can be found mixing it with the entertainers of Bourbon Street, resulting in a very much typical Deep South scene.
