Description
This is a view of a street part on Bourbon Street, in the New Orleans French Quarter.
This shot was taken in early January 2008, just a day before the LSU Tigers took on Ohio State University in the BSC National College Football Championship game at the nearby Louisiana Superdome (which also doubles as the Sugar Bowl). The LSU and Ohio fans were out in force, which huge numbers of them swarming the bars of Bourbon Street, as seems to be the habit of any set of supporters that find themselves playing in New Orleans in such a big game.
With LSU effectively being the home team, the street was generally dominated by the purple and gold colours of the Baton Rouge outfit. I therefore, decided to add a de-colourized tone, with almost a sepia feel to it. I felt that this worked well with the yellow colours of the fans, but I also felt that the sepia like tones acted to detract attention a little from the fans, and focus more on the setting. This is exactly what I was trying to achieve with this and the building in question was quite an appropriate one. The building house one of the (now toned down) gentlemens bars that has seen a significant amount of such party scenes over the generations.
