Artist's Description

This is a shot of the Mississippi River at St Francisville, Louisiana.

St. Francisville is a small and picturesque town in West Feliciana Parish, just about 30 miles north of Baton Rouge. It is one of those sleepy Louisiana towns that only seem to exist in your imagination, or in fictional Deep South hamlets from 19th century America. That�s certainly my impression, at least, which was probably reinforced by the searing and oppressive heat, the quiet deserted but immaculately kept streets, the sassy but endearing attitude in the local eateries.

The reason I had to visit St. Francisville was the United States Army Corps of Engineers concrete block casting yard, which sits right on the banks of the Mississippi River. I won�t bore you with the details of the fabrication yard, but it did give me the opportunity to get down to the river and get this shot of the river.
