Artist's Description

I hope that it is not a failing of this image, but you can almost forget that the Holy Island Castle is supposed to be a focal point of this Lindisfarne image. The rock formations, carved out by the pounding waves of the North Sea coast of Northumberland, are easily discernable here and the extent of the tidal range makes this so much dominating a foreground. As I said, the foreground is not intended to overshadow the background, but perhaps that just speaks to the breathtaking nature of the landscape along this part of the north east coast of England.
