This is a shot of the sunset on the San Luis Pass, on the Texas Upper coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Sometimes you just know when you finish shooting that you�ve got a bunch of shots that are to be treasured, and you hold the DSLR with a knowing sense of excitement before going home to edit. This is what I felt after we stumbled across the SUV-friendly beach near Galveston Island in 2013. The sunset was magnificent and bold, making shots like this so easy to expose for. Catching these silhouettes with a long telephoto was a joy. It made me almost want to be on top of the pier, fishing, with a couple of beers to watch the sun go down.
