Description
Iona Abbey is a famous church on the Scottish Isle of Iona, a remote island of the Isle of Mull. Iona Abbey can be credited with the spread of Christianity in Scotland. The abbey dates back to the six century and has a chequered past, being a source of religious enlightenment and safe haven for monks fleeing Viking attack. Iona Abbeys modern form dates back to the 15th century, but did suffer a period of disuse, decline, and even abandonment following the Scottish Reformation. Following this, the Abbey was rebuilt in the 19th century by the Church of Scotland. Having had the chance to visit the inside the Abbey, I have to say it is particularly photographable; especially each and every artefact the compliments the atmosphere. This was particularly case with this simple window-sill. Youve got to wonder just how old these artefacts actually are.
