Artist's Description

This is Connel Bridge, an iron truss structure which spans the Falls of Lora in western Scotland. Just outside the west coast fishing port of Oban, Connel Bridge provides access to the road north towards Fort William and Glencoe. More than this, though, the Connell Bridge has become somewhat symbolic for us personally, as the gateway to an Argyll & Bute retreat at Tralee Bay; a small and secluded beachfront resort in the town of Benderloch. Sitting in the shadow of Beinn Lora, though, the bridge is actually quite photogenic; largely because of the stark contrast between the iron truss arrangement and the more peaceful Scottish mountains which serve us such a great backdrop. Connell Bridge actually started out as a railway bridge about a century ago, hence the seemingly over-engineered state. I always try to stop and take a shot of the bridge on out trips up here; as it tends to look good regardless of the weather.
