Description
Of all my time living in Scotland, a whole 22 years before I grew up and moved away, I can honestly say that I didnt know that such sights existed in my homeland. We all associated such raging torrents and mighty waterfalls with more far flung and exotic locations around the world. Not a mere 15 miles from home! This shot was taken on the famous River Clyde, just upstream of the historic museum town of New Lanark. The local power station usually draws off water upstream which reduces daily flow on the Clyde to a mere trickle. However, for a few days a year they let the river run full; creating such marvelous sights as this. I took advantage of a 10 stop filter, and using a 13 second exposure, I got the shot of the raging Clyde overtopping this 90 ft precipice. This shot was taken in the summer of 2012, and I can honestly say that we didnt plan to find the river flow so high that day; just sheer luck!
