Beautiful and powerful

Artist's Description

These are the magnificent Falls of Glencoe, a lesser known feature of this famous mountainous landscape in the Scottish Highlands. I had driven by the falls once or twice before deciding to stop and try and get a better shot. There is a viewing platform sitting just above the falls, on the main road through the glen. There were a bunch of people on the platform taking shots, but I decided that I wanted something a little more out of the ordinary. So I set about finding a way around the edge of the bridge and down into the small ravine below the waterfalls. Given the weather conditions, and that it is a rocky and wet site anyway, the trek down into the base of the falls was treacherous to say the least. However, despite the gawping looks from the tourists above on the platform, I feel that it was very much worth it. It feels good to get a shot after being made to work hard to get it, and it was no different than this Falls of Glencoe shot.
