Description
One of the things I like about long exposure photography is the minimalist style it creates; even when you have a complex structure like the Forth Bridge as the focal point of the image. With the panoramic aspect ratio and the long exposure creating the motionless illusion, the resulting image is one that I am very much pleased with. I had actually fought with the rising tide, trying to create a rocky shoreline foreground to provide a more standard composition. However, with every minute I waited for the perfect light, I had to adjust both my footing and my tripod position. Eventually the rocky shoreline all but disappeared, creating conditions ripe for an image just like this. The Forth Bridge is a well known 125 year Victorian era bridge, crossing the Firth of Forth estuary, taking the East Coast Main Railway Line from Edinburgh north to Fife in Scotland. December 2014.
