Description
This is a shot of the Houston Medical Centre, taken from the waters edge in Hermann Park; a jewel in the midst of a concrete and steel jungle in the oil capital of Texas, and indeed, the world. We lived in Houston, before being hauled to the suburbs, for 2 and a half years and, unfortunately, we didnt take full advantage of parks like this. Worse, there were photographic opportunities to be had (like this) that went begging. I did manage to get this shot (and a few others) on the 4th July holiday in 2014, while waiting for the fireworks to kick in. We had just experienced a series of powerful summer storms and, therefore, the late evening skies were full of colour between the breaking clouds. Coupled with the lighting up of the medical center skyscrapers, it was the perfect opportunity to slow the shutter speed right down and capture the majesty of it all. This is a shot of the Houston Medical Centre, taken from the waters edge in Hermann Park; a jewel in the midst of a concrete and steel jungle in the oil capital of Texas, and indeed, the world.
