Description
I love the way the skyline of major U.S. cities lights up against the dark of the night. The glow of the office windows, highlighting the long hours of those suffering into the night in corporate America. For me, it is quite symbolic of the U.S. in general and the Houston skyline is as good a place as any to capture a such a scene. This particular image was taken late in the evening of July 2013, from a footbridge crossing the Buffalo Bayou on the western side of the downtown area. I had intended mainly to get sunset shots of the gleaming skyscrapers, but as the evening drew on, I hung about a bit longer for the office lights to dominate the skyline.
This shot was taken with a Nikon D800, and a Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8 zoom lense. No HDR trickery was required with this shot, just a 30 second long exposure and some minor corrections in Photoshop PS5.
