Description
What does Deep in the Heart of Texas mean to you? Well, as a foreigner and now resident of the State of Texas, it probably does not mean the same to me as it does to many of the indigenous residents. There surely is some common ground though I first heard this song at a Houston Astros game just a few days before I took this shot, and my son came home from daycare extolling the virtues of the great state of Texas.
So why not get out an get an image that is representative? Well, I tried, and will continue to persevere, but I do kind of like this particular shot. It was taken between the small east Texas town of Brookshire and Simonton, well away from the big city lights. The twilight colors were strong enough to make this a desirable image and there enough stars in the sky to tempt me to stop my car and get one more shot. I was actually about to pack up my gear and make my way back to Houston, but having found this ramshackle old home on the edge of some farmland, I am sure glad that I took the extra time to get this shot.
