Artist's Description

This is Loch Creran, a sea loch on the Argyll & Bute western coast of Scotland. It was a dreary (or dreich) day and week in western Scotland, which made photography conditions trying at best. Particularly on the coast, though, which ironically is where this shot was taken. While the kids were in taking in the sights at the nearby sealife center at Benderloch, I was down on the shoreline of the loch looking for a shot like this. The real challenge was in the composition finding the right combination of rocks, water, and background while arranging them in the pre-prescribed order that apparently makes photographs to appealing. It took many shots, and got my trousers soaking wet trying to find the best of them, but I think this was the result I was looking for. The foreground rock seemed suitably lonely enough to be a useful focal point to compliment the wider landscape.
