Artist's Description
Everyone knows that the rain tends to come tumbling down in New Orleans during the height of humid summers, as thunderstorms roll through almost on a daily basis. However, those from out of town may not be quite as familiar with the intense Spring storms that drench the festivals (such as Jazz Fest as we all know too well). This shot shows a rain sodden Audubon Park, on a Saturday afternoon, right after a giant rainfall event flooded the already saturated grounds of the park. While this may have been good reason to stay indoors on a Saturday afternoon, it was a great opportunity for me to wander across the street and get these shots of the iconic New Orleans Live Oak trees, with floodwaters circling their exposed roots. The reflections in the millpond still floodwaters can also be a great photographic subject. This particular shot was taken right in front of the zoo, alongside Magazine Street in uptown New Orleans in 2010.
