Artist's Description

The Forth Road Bridge has led a troubled life. After years of repairs to tackle corrosion of the main cables, the bridge was temporarily closed due to the failure of a truss section. The failure actually happened a couple of weeks before this image was taken and was re-open to traffic the next day. Meanwhile, the bridge's fate was sealed when the construction of the new Queensferry Crossing was ordered. The new cable stayed bridge can be seen under construction in the background. Forth Estuary, Scotland. 2015
