Artist's Description
Just a couple of days after getting my new Nikon D800 camera, I found myself searching for subjects to shoot along the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. The ice and snow of the Christmas of 2012 made it practically difficult to reach the vantage points that I really wanted; in fact much of the parkway was closed. However, I did take a run in the other direction and found sights along the road that I have never seen before in this reach of the Appalachian foothills. This quite ordinary scene was made a little more special with the way these oddly shaped icicles clung to the barbed wire on this country fence. This was actually a hand held HDR shot, taken in relatively low light. I was quite astounded with the way the camera performed in such conditions: making such ordinary images seem that little bit more special.
