It seems so tranquil and peaceful, nestled among the sprawling limbs of the Live Oak trees, but these dwelling have a darker past. These buildings would have been the accommodations for the slave population of the Boone Hall Plantation. A tourist attraction now, but perhaps a reminder of how easily society has managed to brutish off the ills of the antebellum area in the Deep South. Charleston, South Carolina, 2021.
