Artist's Description
This is a shot of the Desert View Tower, part of the tourist infrastructure at the eastern end of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. This was our first port of call when we go this amazing geological wonder in Arizona. I timed it so that we arrived just prior to sunset, as prior research indicated that this was the best Grand Canyon spot for sunset photography. The scene was simply magnificent, and the tower itself was an interesting enough feature to justify being the focal point of this particular image.
