Artist's Description

The Forth Bridge is probably the most photographed subject in Scotland. And rightfully so, it has a history dating back to the 19th century, and remains a civil engineering and cultural icon for country. It is only in recent years that I have decided that it is fair to go back, time and time again, to photograph it. Youd think that any subject would be subject to overkill when it comes to photography, but not so with this structure. I think the reason is that it just looks so good in pretty much all types of weather, as illustrated with this image. I had decided to drive over from the west of Scotland, knowing full well that it was a dreich day. I knew that I would get a shot, but that I would have to wait for it. Wait I did; and eventually the clouds lifted just a little to reveal the main structure, while shrouding the rest of the bridge. It was just the shot I was looking for, even in black and white.
