Artist's Description
This is a shot of a sunrise over the Galveston Historic Pleasure Pier and beach that I took while running between the rock jetties to change position back in October 2013. I had gotten up before dawn to capture a Galveston sunrise over the pier, which provided a perfect silhouette opportunity. Half way through shooting the sunrise I noticed that an adjacent jetty would be better placed to get a shot of the sun with the pier in silhouette. However, while quickly making my way across the beach I noticed that the waves were washing nicely over the ripples in the beach profile, which offered a great opportunity for some foreground reflections. This HDR shot, in addition to some sodden trousers after kneeling in the water, was the result of that effort.
