I don�t always attempt to make black and white conversions of my images, but that are some that just blatantly tick the box. Take this image of the Galveston Historic Pleasure Pier; the deep blacks of the pier contrast nicely with the pre-sunset highlights in the sky and the smooth waters of the Gulf of Mexico in the foreground. For me, all black and white images must have this balance of deep shadows and highlights, with an added necessity for simplicity in the composition. I felt that this image had both, which is why I am sharing it on this site. Galveston, Texas, Summer
