Artist's Description

This is one of several shots that I took of the lower waterfalls on Onion Creek, more commonly known as the McKinney Falls in the similarly titled State Park just south west of Austin, Texas. The falls are particularly interesting as although the riparian area on one side of the bank comprises bald cypress and sycamore trees, the other side of the bank is a wide limestone plateau. The plateau offers seemingly unimpeded access to the falls, however, you quickly realize how treacherous the surface and how precariously placed the vantage points of the falls are. As I sat, carefully balanced on the edge of the rocks hoping that myself and my equipment did not slide into the water, I also had to keep a careful eye on my son, hoping he wouldn�t trip and fall on the other worldly rocky landscape. This particular shot was taken downstream of the lower falls. If you use your imagination, you could perhaps imaging that this was a much larger drop, instead of the mere 6 to 10 ft. I would...
