Artist's Description
In my experience of taking sunset shots, I have come to realize that sometimes the very simple shots can often turn out to be as effective as some of the more complex compositions. A sun, a horizon, and a few reflections can make for quite a captivating shot. However, taking these shots can also sometimes turn out to be an after though; a quick snap taken while waiting for the light to change or the foreground to develop. I have come up with several such shots over the years that I have considered to be keepers. This is one such shot taken from the waters edge of Canyon Lake, a recharge reservoir up in the Texas Hill Country, not far from New Braunfels. This shot has another feature though, that I am starting to use more often with sunsets a long lens. Shot at 300 mm, I have found that the use of a telephoto directed right into the sun can result in some fabulously simple but compressed shots which really accentuate the beauty and colors of a setting sun.
