Description
This is Gallen Head, on the Outer Hebridean Isle of Lewis. Facing the Atlantic Coast, I can only imagine that this was one of the quieter days on this ruthless Scottish coast. Our hotel owner told us that eagles and whales were daily sights here, but alas, we saw none. Regardless, this is a fascinatingly rugged and doubtlessly ruthless coastline, and I was pleased to be able to get this shot. Our hotel owner also told us of the history off our digs, perched high up on the edged of this cliff. It apparently was once a US naval outpost at the height of the Cold War. Aird Uig (where this shot was taken) is very interesting little corner of the Outer Hebrides and a great place to rest overnight before exploring the rest of the western coast of these Scottish isles.
