Description
This is a shot of one of the rocky jetties that extend out into the Gulf of Mexico at Galveston Beach. It was taken on a warm January afternoon in 2014. For a while it looked like the setting sun would light up the underside of the low clouds. It was certainly a teasing sight, but ultimately did not happen. What I got instead was these quite distinct piercing rays of light which penetrated the clouds, lighting up the sky in a similarly pleasing way. This is one of those images that reminds me that a feeling that I wont get what you want out of a scene is no reason to pack up my gear and go home. The lesson: wait it out and something better and relatively unexpected may happen.
