Description
This is a shot that I took in early Spring 2008, on the shoreline of Lake Pontchartrain, St Charles Parish, Louisiana, just west of New Orleans. This was one of our regular early year Sunday afternoon trips out into the countryside of Louisiana, and the first time we had ventured along the 3 mile dirt track out to this popular fishing point. I like this image because it kind of sums of like in South East Louisiana, in that the fate of this decayed Bald Cypress tree has been sealed by the rising waters in Lake Pontchartrain. Be it because of sea level rise, or just a reminder that the hurricane risk leaves a lot of real estate under water; it is a very dynamic environment, one that mankind has to work hard to keep up with.
