Description
This is an image of one of the distinctive Bald Cypress trees in the swamps of the Big Branch Swamps, Louisiana. These swamps / marsh areas are actually on the northshore of Lake Pontchartrain, which makes them a little bit more less common than those south of New Orleans. We only visited this part of the State once, and found that it was actually a great place to take in the many nature trails around this expansive swamp area. My one defining memory of this places was the heat the blazing heat. Thats expected, of course, in mid summer in Louisiana but it doesnt make it any easier to bear! There wasnt as much of the predatory wildlife in evidence here, i.e. alligators, but for those that want to get out and explore the outdoors in the summer heat this is as good a place as any to punish yourself!
